In memory of the best-est friend ever: Edward Alvin Hall, Jr; I whole-heartily support the 2017 Hill Country Ride for AIDS.
I'm physically unable to ride in the 2017 Hill Country Ride for AIDS (an awesome ride through the beautiful Texas hill country), however, I have registered as a VIRTUAL RIDER with team Project Transitions-Bike Curious? . This is the 18th anniversary of the HCRA. They have raised more than $8,000,000 for people affected by HIV/AIDS in our community, and this year I want to help them raise even more!
This money will go directly to 10 local non-profits assisting those in central Texas affected by HIV/AIDS. There are 6,000+ Central Texans living with HIV and/or AIDS, and there's a new HIV diagnosis every 35 hours in Central Texas.
I would be so grateful for any donation you can share in my quest to help provide much needed services and to offer a better quality of life for those of us living with HIV/AIDS (yes, I personally live with HIV/AIDS).
I, like many others are not fortunate enough to be able to physically ride a bicycle - that's why I registered as a VIRTUAL RIDER. I wanted to be a part of the Hill Country Ride for AIDS fund raising effort. Sure, I could have written a check, but on a fixed income, I could only contribute a very small amount. But as a Virtual Rider, I've been able to raise much more through the generous donations of friends, and I'm spreading awareness that HIV/AIDS has not gone away. It's not been cured. It still affects thousands of people each year. I may not be sitting in the seat of a bicycle during the ride, but I'm having the time of my life sharing the purpose of the Hill Country Ride for AIDS. There's still a little over a week before the ride, I'm a tad-bit shy of my goal, but I have faith my friends will come through and help me reach my goal.
